Who’s George?

isa_760xN.19430323924_oz09Named Georgeann after my grandfather George Frank Seymour, I have always loved my name! I grew up in the south as “George” to my family and closest friends. So it naturally became my business name!

When you purchase a piece from my store, you know from start to finish it was “George” who designed and handcrafted it! I take great pride in my work and hope that you will appreciate the craftsmanship as much as I enjoy the process! Throughout my collection, you may be able to see the influences of my country upbringing. My work shows a sense of humor and also the love of sweet southern comforts such as horseback riding, line dancing, or simply sitting around a campfire with family and friends. After graduating from East Carolina University’s Fine Arts department in metal design in 2008, my adventurous heart took me out west to Montana. There I worked harder than I have ever known, caring for over forty horses and ensuring each guest had a safe and enjoyable trail ride through the breath-taking beauty of Glacier National Park. Overloaded with inspiration in every direction, I did my best to soak it all up before the end of the summer came and I, along with the other wranglers, returned to reality. After returning home to North Carolina, I soon began teaching an introduction to metal design class at a local art gallery. I also managed a hunter jumper stables close to where I grew up in Goldsboro, North Carolina. I juggled my three part time jobs and working in my home studio for over a year before I knew I had to make a change and soon!

Although I loved being close to my family, my passion to make metal work my career soon took me to Black Mountain, North Carolina. There I found many wonderful opportunities, from apprenticing with master goldsmith Roberto Vengoechea to working one part time job conveniently close to my home. I built amazing relationships there both professional and personal that I hope to have for the rest of my life.

In the gorgeous mountains, I also met and a short two years later married my husband. After marrying we moved to Belmont, North Carolina, where he works for his (and now our) family business. With the unwavering, loving support of my husband, I am diving head first into my career! It’s about time!

isa_760xN.19458203877_2watAlthough a large portion of my orders are custom designs, most of the work you will see throughout my collection of one-of-a-kind jewelry embodies my style of uniqueness. No two pieces are exactly the same! Each piece demands a second look and when you wear it, you will too!

When someone commissions me to create them a piece of artwork, whether it be a belt buckle or a pair of earrings; I wish to reveal what encompasses their “southern comforts.” Therefore the piece they wear is uniquely cherished by them because it is connected to things that set them apart.

I love what I do and I hope that it shows! Please don’t hesitate to ask me any and all questions! Thank you so much for your interest and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
