This belt buckle is truly a work of art! I combined hand-fabrication and an enameling technique called champlevé to make an incredibly special belt buckle honoring the memory of my customer's beloved horse, Brownie.
This process is extremely tedious and work intensive! The colored sections are layered enamel (powered glass). First I have to acid etch recessed parts of the design and then wet pack enamel into those cavities little by little, firing after each layer. Once the recesses are filled, I hand grind down the surface and fire one more time in the kiln so the glass is shiny. There are countless more steps; therefore, custom champlevé belt buckles start at $2,000. They vary greatly depending on size and design so please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
