One weekend at Tryon International Equestrian Center, a customer turned to me and asked, "Have you ever made western stirrups?" That night, I went in my studio and made my very first pair of western stirrup earrings! The next day I pointed them out to her among my earring display and she immediately put them on. Since then, I have perfected the design and now have them available in copper and silver. Brass is also available upon special request.
I am especially proud of this creation! I used my old Billy Cook western saddle as inspiration for the design. I hammer textured my sheet of metal then handsaw out the shape that will soon be formed into the stirrup. Then I drill the holes on each end where the bolt would go. After I bend it into place, I tube rivet the "bolt" into place. Lastly I add the "bolt wear leather" that wraps around the tube rivet which I intentionally left smooth to show the contrast in the metals. These earrings are sanded and polished into a gorgeous, wearable work of art!
And as you know, all the earrings in my shop have solid sterling silver ear wires for comfort and quality!
